We look at all the permanent bonuses in Baldur's Gate 3, what they do, and how to get them.
Some buffs will last a few turns, some will be permanent, while others are daily renewable buffs that will last until the next long rest. One of these daily renewable buffs can be obtained from an interaction in Stormshore Tabernacle, which is a house of worship found within the walls of Baldur’s Gate, Lower City.
Where Is The Stormshore Tabernacle?
Stormshore Tabernacle houses statues of the different deities in the game, so anyone can come in to worship no matter who it is they serve. This building is in the northeastern area of Baldur’s Gate, Lower City. The closest waypoint you can use to get there is the Basilisk Gate waypoint. Head west from Basilisk Gate to find the tabernacle.
Inside, you'll find Vicar Humbletoes caring for the tabernacle. He's also a merchant who sells different equipment, potions, elixirs, and scrolls.
How To Get The Daily Buff From Stormshore Tabernacle
The buff you can obtain from the tabernacle is a 'blessing' from the deities housed here. To get it, you’ll need to make a donation to any deity of your choice. The statue by the altar in the northernmost area of the tabernacle represents multiple deities, while the statues standing along the sides represent only one deity.
Feel free to pick any of the deities that interest you because they all give the same buff. Once you’ve chosen a deity, you’ll be prompted to make a donation. You can donate any item, but you’ll need to donate a very specific amount of gold to be eligible for the deity’s daily blessing. The required amount of gold is different depending on your character's level.
Character Level | Required Donation Amount (in gold) |
---|---|
Level 1 | 400 |
Level 2 | 500 |
Level 3 | 600 |
Level 4 | 800 |
Level 5 | 1,000 |
Level 6 | 1,400 |
Level 7 | 1,800 |
Level 8 | 2,400 |
Level 9 | 3,000 |
Level 10 | 3,600 |
Level 11-12 | 4,500 |
Once you’ve made the donation, you can pray to the deity to receive a buff called Anointed in Splendour. This will give you a +2 bonus to all saving throws!
You can repeat the same process for every companion you have recruited, and each will be able to pray to their chosen deity for a buff. This buff only lasts until your next long rest, but you can pray to the deity for the blessing again for free every day.
How To Retrieve The Donation You Made
You may find that the price to pay for the blessing is quite a steep one, but there’s a way to retrieve the donation you offered to the deity. You'll have to look for the trapdoor tucked in the southwest corner of the tabernacle. You'll need to go through that trapdoor to get to the basem*nt; this is where all the donations are being stored.
Make sure that Vicar Humbletoes doesn't see you while you're picking the lock on the trapdoor, because this is considered an illegal activity. If he catches you, his attitude towards you will worsen and his wares will be priced higher for you.
You can have one of your party members distract Vicar Humbletoes before you pick the lock on the trapdoor. Have a companion turn the vicar away from the direction of the trapdoor by starting a conversation with him.
Once you've picked the lock, go through the trap door. You'll find yourself in the basem*nt of Stormshore Tabernacle. The space is tight, and the floor is littered with traps. There are pressure plates laid around that will trigger a burst of holy fire engulfing the room when stepped on.
You'll need to pass a perception check for each of them to spot their locations. A few feet away from the ladder you used to enter the area is a short hallway. Head through the hallway with care to avoid triggering any of the traps.
At the end of the hallway, you'll find a door to another room. This room is where you'll find your donation. Head for the room, but watch out for the pressure plates by the door. Once inside, you'll find that the room has several chests. The chest with your donation is the largest one sitting directly across the room's entrance.
You can loot all the chests, but be warned! Simply taking an item from the chests will curse you with a 'Castigated by Divinity' condition. With this curse, you'll immediately die if you fall unconscious, and an envoy of the deity you offended will rise from your corpse. You can avoid getting cursed by sending the items to your camp instead of picking them up.
Now you should have all your gold back and a free daily blessing from your deity, and they won't have a clue that they’ve been duped!
